NORTH SEATTLE – Local musicians Lori Williams (soprano), Karin McCullough (piano); Lucy Wenger (piano) and Maureen Stone (oboe) join cellist and founder of international musicians’ movement Bach in the Subways for a fundraising concert at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Haller Lake United Methodist Church at 13055 1st Ave. NE., Seattle. Tickets are $20, $5 for students & children, and all proceeds will cover operating costs for Bach in the Subways 2017 celebrations. Tickets are available now through Brown Paper Tickets (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2724778) and will also be sold at the door 30 minutes before the concert.

The goal with Bach in the Subways,” says founder Dale Henderson, “is to bring as much Bach, and by extension classical music, to as many people as possible – especially those who have never heard it before.” In 2010 Henderson began frequent free performances of Bach’s Cello Suites in the subways of New York City to “sow the seeds for future generations of classical music lovers” and by 2015 the project had flourished into an international musicians’ movement: thousands of musicians in 140 cities in 40 countries offered free Bach performances in public places.

Seattle led the charge then as now, hosting the world’s largest Bach in the Subways celebrations in 2015 and is planning to do it again in 2017. The organization prepares to support dozens of musicians throughout Greater Seattle as they offer free performances of Bach’s music in public places March 18-21 in celebration of Bach’s 332nd birthday.
