Haller Lake Music Series announces its 2018/2019 season

Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 3:00 p.m.: Valentina Rodov, solo piano. Russian-born and Moscow Conservatory-trained pianist Valentina Rodov performs a solo piano recital.
On the program: Mozart’s Sonata in C major K330; Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons (October & November); Chopin’s Scherzo no.2 in B flat minor op.31; Mozart’s Rondo in A Minor K511; Brahms’s Sonata no.3, op.5 (Andante); and Chopin’s Fantasie in F Minor op.49

Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.: Gwen Franz, viola, and Lisa Lanza, piano; solos and duets.

Sunday, January 20, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.: Naeim Rahmani, solo guitar

Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.: Eliza Woodyard, soprano, Revere Taylor, baritone, Karin McCullough, piano accompaniment. A post-Valentine’s Day concert including art songs by Peter Cornelius and the “rom-com” (romantic/comedy) The Telephone by Menotti.

Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.: Hilary Field, solo guitar

Sunday, April 14, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.: The Brian Wharton Ensemble featuring Brittany Boulding and Ingrid Fredrickson, violins; Joyce Ramee and Mike Watson, violas;
Brian Wharton and Andrea Chandler, cellos perform a concert entitled “Romantic Brothers:” Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E Flat Major, Op. 12; Brahms’s String Sextet No. 1 in B Flat Major, Op. 18. Brahms and Mendelssohn are known for their soaring romantic melodies. Enjoy waves of magical phrases washing over you in a concert that celebrates life and beauty. Each work features an iconic movement. The Mendelssohn has the charming Canzonetta while the Brahms features a Hungarian theme and variations in the second movement.

Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.: Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Composers Showcase: featuring composers Janet Anderson, piano, Hilary Field, guitar, and Nicole Truesdell, piano; with Katie Hochman, soprano

As before, admission is by goodwill donation ($20 suggested for adults; $5 for children and students).
