ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Christopher Arpin comes from Seattle and studied at the UW with Professor Randolph Hokanson. After working at the Opera of San Diego, he was at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles the academic degree of Masters of Music magna cum laude as a piano accompanist. His professors there were Gwendolyn Kodofsky, the companion of the famous soprano Lotte Lehmann, and Brooks Smith, the companion of Jascha Heifetz.
Since 1982 Christopher Arpin solo coach and is Deputy Head of Studio at the Opera in Bonn. As a pianist, he appeared at the Beethoven Festival Bonn at the European premiere of a song cycle by Leonard Bernstein. It was followed by appearances at the New Year festival in Sofia and at the festival in Potsdam Sanssouci. WDR and SWF at several productions and CD-recordings were made. Last Arpin was a guest at the Paris Grand Opera as the coach for the opera “King Roger”.
Christopher Arpin has long been a popular and esteemed companion of soloists of the Bonn Opera in the evening concerts of opera lovers.

Roberta Hansen Downey is a Seattle/Tacoma native. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California and earned her Masters degree from Eastman School of Music. She was a winner of the Northwest Young Artists Competition and Don Bushell Concerto Competition. Roberta has been a member of the Seattle Symphony cello section since 1982. She has been a frequent performer on the Second City Chamber series, the Seattle Symphony Chamber music series. As well as performances at Town Hall and the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle. She is a co-organizer along with Cordelia Wikarski-Miedel, of the Seattle Violoncello Society’s Annual Bach Suite Marathon.

Brittany Boulding has appeared as soloist with the Northwest Sinfonietta, Auburn Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Cascade Symphony Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Spoleto USA, National Repertory Orchestra and the Orquesta de Camara Concierto Sur (Cuba). She has also performed recitals across the United States and internationally. Her major music festival appearances include Tanglewood, Spoleto, Aspen, Vail, Banff and Bellingham. A passionate chamber musician, she is a member of the Finisterra Trio and can be seen performing at chamber festivals such as the Methow Valley, Simple Measures, Second City, Seasons, Russian Chamber Music Foundation, Guemes Island, Vashon, Bainbridge, Auburn, Cornish, Jacobsen and New Lens Series. Ms. Boulding is Concertmaster of the Northwest Sinfonietta and the Auburn Symphony as well as Associate Concertmaster of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. She also performs regularly with the Seattle Symphony and the Seattle Opera. Ms. Boulding earned her Bachelor of Music from Rice University and her Professional Studies Certificate from the Colburn Conservatory under the tutelage of Robert Lipsett. A Pacific Northwest native, Ms. Boulding grew up performing and recording with her family, the internationally acclaimed Magical Strings. Brittany enjoys spending her free time hiking, running and doing yoga with her dogs Wotan and Capote.
